Diamond Academy-23

There are a lot of exciting topics this year that will help develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world they live in.

Our English lessons will be designed to help develop reading and writing skills. We will study different novels and a range of genres. By the end of the year, the children will be writing imaginative texts with engaging descriptions whilst also demonstrating the many skills they have learnt, such as the use of varied openers, prepositions, adverbs and conjunctions.

In maths, we will be focusing on how mathematicians think to solve different problems. We will also be looking at developing a better understanding of place value and learning how to use written methods to solve problems.

Over the year, we will be learning about a range of different topics. From Predators to Mighty Metals, there is something for everyone. Our first topic, Scrumdiddlyumptious, is based all around food. We will be looking at food hygiene and the process of preparing and cooking foods.

This year is also a very exciting year for Year 3, as we will be having swimming lessons. Our class is lucky enough to go first so will be swimming every Monday morning until Christmas. This is an excellent opportunity, as it helps children develop their swimming techniques and gain more confidence when in the water.

What their teacher says:

Year 3 is the start of a new school and brings with it new experiences and opportunities to help children thrive in their learning. I am looking forward to seeing the children grow and learn this year.
