In literacy, we will be reading a range of novels. Our class novels will be Matilda, The Iron Man and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We will use these texts as models for our own writing. Punctuation and grammar skills will be taught through the writing of the different texts.
We will follow Maths - No Problem! for maths, working with numbers up to 1000. We will use concrete objects to help us, moving on to the pictorial and abstract approach. Children will receive immediate intervention to address any misconceptions. Reasoning skills will also be taught throughout the year.
Lessons on an afternoon are dedicated to foundation subjects. Skills will be taught through topics including; Gods and Mortals, Tremors, Predators, Tribal Tales, Mighty Metals and Urban Pioneers. Children will also receive French lessons.
Throughout the year we will be learning about the United Nations Conventions of the Rights of the Child and how we can make sure everyone receives these rights. Children will have weekly P.E. lessons, developing skills in games, gymnastics and dance. We will also have swimming lessons in the summer term.
