In September, children once again enjoyed being immersed in various European cultures as we celebrated European Day of Languages as a whole school. The children were encouraged to choose a European country for their class to represent and wear the colours of the flag on European Day of Languages. Children were able to participate in cross curricular activities such as computing, design and technology and geography.
Children were asked to collect materials from home so that they could construct a European landmark in groups and then present these to their year groups.
In groups, children researched information about their chosen country (language, vocabulary, capital city, famous landmarks, sport, religion, food) and had to choose a way to present their findings. Throughout the day, all of the children had the opportunity to taste foods from different countries.
