This half-term, pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 took part in a series of workshops with coaches from Show Racism The Red Card.
SRTRC aims to empower young people to challenge racism in the communities in which they live, providing them with relevant knowledge and information to enable them to do this.
The sessions were a combination of physical activity (led by ex-professional footballers Gary Bennett and Dean Gordon) and classroom-based learning with the team of educators. They taught our pupils about the causes and consequences of racism and to explore the various forms racism can take, helping them prepare to play an active role as citizens in an increasingly multi-cultural society.
Pupils were able to strengthen their relationships with each other and develop their respect for, and understanding of, the different ethnicities, faiths, cultures and nationalities in our school and community.
