Pupils at Diamond Hall Junior Academy were lucky enough to be visited by GB long jumper Chris Tomlinson who was there to promote sport and fitness through a range of fun fitness activities.
The Middlesbrough born athlete attended the school for a full morning on Friday 10 March and ran a sponsored circuit in which the whole school, including staff, got stuck into lots of games and challenges.
Following the circuit, Chris talked passionately about his history with sport and long jumping. He discussed showing an early interest in running by competing for Middlesbrough AC at the age of ten, then deciding to concentrate on long jumping in his teen years.
He holds a number of achievements, including participating at the London 2012 Olympic games and, hoping to inspire some new long jumpers, Chris held a mini standing long jump competition, which was a particular highlight for the pupils.
