Our determined netball team took part in a 'High 5' netball competition recently against Hill View Academy and Barnes Junior School.
High 5 netball is the primary version of netball, with only five on each team and slightly different rules to a standard netball game. Read the match reports below written by pupils, Samantha and Georgia:
Game 1
The first game was against Hill View Academy. Although we didn’t get the first centre pass, that didn’t stop our determination. When the whistle went Hill View got to the goal end quickly and tried to score, but luckily, Jayden knocked the ball out. After a while, the goal went to Hill View. Hill View were very good at their interceptions but we took over. They tried to shoot again but missed. We tried to get as close to our goal as possible but then Hill View got the ball again. They took a shot and scored. Unfortunately, Hill View then took control of the game with a final score of 5-0 to them.
Game 2
We were still feeling a little bit nervous when game two against Barnes Junior School started. The ball got to us and Georgia scored. It was 1-0 to us. Lilly tried to score but unfortunately she missed. Barnes got the ball and tried to shoot but missed too. Then Lilly scored before trying to shoot again, but she missed the second time. It was 2-0 to us. Finally the last whistle blew and we had won the game. We got a nice compliment from the umpire who said we were a really good team and that we we worked together well.
Well done!
