Year 5 took part in a very interesting workshop last week which made them think about how we access our rights in school.

The workshop taught them more about specific articles in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), allowed them to exercise their rights, and encouraged them to consider how they could help other children have their rights met.

The pupils are very excited to organise a school charity event next that will help tackle the issue of homelessness. This links specifically with article 27 in the UNCRC - the right to a safe place to live. We look forward to seeing what they come up with...

We were recently awarded the Rights Respecting School level 1 award and are hoping to get the Gold award in June - wish us luck! Find out more here.
