Pupils tackle the Grimes Football Cup

Last week, eight of our Year 5 children took part in their first football fixtures of the year.

The team were pitted against three teams from other schools: West Boldon, Broadway and New Silksworth, in the Grimes 7-a-side Football Cup. The team represented our school fantastically and showed their Rights Respecting nature throughout.

Well done to Kristupas, Alfie, Max, Layton, Riley, Isaac, Matthew and Jay, who were great representatives of the school and achieved a huge win during one of their matches.

Two of our fantastic players, Kristupas and Jay have written the following match reports...

Diamond Hall (DHJA) 0 - 1 West Boldon

In our first game of the season, we fell to a narrow defeat. In the second half, we had some great chances to score but we would not get it past their keeper who was really good! We also hit the post with the last attack of the game which was very unfortunate!

DHJA 0 - 5 Broadway

We came up against Broadway school in our second match. After they scored four goals against us in the first half, we tried very hard to turn the game around but sadly lost 5-0 in the end. We kept working hard throughout the whole game and did not let our spirits drop.

DHJA 7 - 0 New Silksworth

In our final game against new Silksworth, we managed to create lots of chances which lead to seven goals! We showed good resilience to keep working together after the first two tricky games. We cannot wait to get back out on the pitch again!
