Pupils commemorate Remembrance Day

Today, everyone at Diamond Hall Junior Academy commemorated Remembrance Day with a two-minute silence held in memory of those who sacrificed their lives during war and for those soldiers who are currently stationed in war zones around the world.

In classes, our pupils have been looking into the themes: Why do we have Remembrance Day? What is the Armistice? Why do we wear poppies? What happens on Remembrance Day?

In the lead up to Remembrance Day, the children have been supporting the Royal British Legion by purchasing poppies to wear.

The theme of World War I will also be developed further through a whole-school writing activity which will help children learn the key facts about WWI and consider important themes such as bravery, sacrifice, loss and remembrance.
