Beamish museum trip

Earlier this week, Miss Ridler's Year 4 class enjoyed their first visit to Beamish Museum.

When they arrived, they were greeted by the museum's chemist from the W Smith chemist shop who had a customer who was suffering from indigestion.

The children carried out an investigation to test which was the best remedy to offer the customer. They were provided with some weak 'stomach' acid and asked to see which of the possible treatments worked best to neutralise it.

The children used a universal indicator solution to watch the pH level change. After carrying out the investigations, the children decided which treatment worked the best and passed this recommendation to the chemist.

They all had great fun and cannot wait for their next visit!
