On Monday, 26 lucky Year 6 pupils had the opportunity to visit Sunderland Empire Theatre to watch the magnificent War Horse, a play based on the book by children's writer Michael Morpurgo.
The story follows Joey the horse as he is sold to the Cavalry during World War One and gets caught up in enemy fire while in France. In this performance, fake gunshots were fired which certainly kept the children on the edge of their seats!
Children commented on how amazing the models of the horses were and how it was such a fantastic heart-warming story.
Demi-Leigh said: “It was a five-star performance.”
Katie commented: “It was definitely worth the money... it sent your heart pounding.”
