Safety Works trip

Date Published:

Our Year 6 children visited Safety Works in Newcastle this week to learn all about how to stay safe outside of school.

The session, organised by the fire service, the police, St. John's Ambulance and the Metro service allowed children to take part in a valuable and fun hands-on experience.

They got to experience the inside of a police station, how to practically deal with a wheelie bin fire, how to put an unresponsive casualty into the recovery position, where to stand safely when waiting for the metro and so much more. It was a real eye-opener and something the children will remember for years to come.

Caleb said: "If there is a fire in your house, get out as quickly as you can and dial 999."

Lennox said: "I once put some paper in the bin and smoke came out! We had to call the fire service."
