Lords Live!

Date Published:
Thursday 27 June 2019

Earlier today, pupils took part in a live Q&A with Senior Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, Lord McFall, as part of a 'Lords Live' session.

Pupils asked Lord McFall a range of questions such as:

  • How do you think Brexit will affect our country?
  • How could we stop plastic pollution?
  • What is the best thing about being a lord?

Lord McFall gave thought-provoking answers, leaving the children thinking about how they could take better care of the planet, do more for others and, how no matter how old you get, you never stop learning!

Lord McFall answered the questions in a lot of detail - he was very inspirational!

Miss Towers commented: "Having the opportunity to speak to Lord McFall live from the House of Lords was a once in a lifetime and empowering experience for our children, which proved their voice can be heard even by the higher echelons of parliament.

"It is vital that we teach our children that they can make a difference in society and provide opportunities which raise their aspirations. This unique experience has inspired our children to further develop their knowledge of democratic procedures and the role parliament plays in defining the laws and systems we have in the country."

Thank you to Lord McFall for providing an inspirational morning for our pupils!
