Our Year 5 pupils have been getting stuck into their new history topic, Groundbreaking Greeks!
So far, Year 5 have learned about the Neolithic, Minoan, Mycenaean, Dark Ages, Archaic period, Classic period and the Hellenistic period and looked at other significant periods of time that were occurring in other parts of the world during the time of the ancient Greeks - these included the Ancient Egyptians, the Bronze Age and the Shang Dynasty to name a few.
This exciting topic also tied into the class' reading and writing lessons where they began to explore non-fiction texts which looked at the similarities and differences between the Minoan and the Mycenaean civilisations and the impact they had on the development of the world.
The class have just begun reading their new text 'Who let the Gods out?' by Maz Evans - so far everyone is really enjoying it!
