We had a brilliant week last week celebrating the Tall Ships coming to Sunderland with lots of activities in and out of school.

On Thursday, Year 6 visited the Tall Ships where they took part in an Arts Discover Award. They created working model ships, decorated flags and created messages using semaphore (a way of communicating using flags). After lunch, they explored the St Peter's side of the river. They saw the Tall Ships they'd been learning about and spoke to the crew, including some from Sweden and Norway.

Our talented choir were invited to perform at the Tall Ships festival. They headed down to the riverside at St Peter’s to perform ship/sea themed songs including Under the Sea, Hold Back the River and Beyond the Sea. After performing, they looked at the ships and entertained some of the sailors with their impromptu singing!

Mrs Cunningham, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Hall were very proud. A big thank you, as always, to Mrs Cunningham for her hard work in getting them prepared.

On Friday, we invited parents and members of the local community to our Tall Ships open afternoon to join in with the fun. Our Year 6 tour guides were on hand to show visitors around and explain all about the work on display. It was a great chance to celebrate all the hard work the children have completed this half term. Thank you to all who came.
