Year 4 go back to Beamish

Last week, class 4LR went on their second trip to Beamish to learn about and experience the roles of men and women during the war.

To begin with, the girls worked in the houses, doing domestic jobs, and the boys worked in the factories. When the war was called, everything changed and the boys took part in the military drills whilst the girls did the factory work.

After the war, the boys returned to take back their jobs however the girls were not happy about this! Ava said "I loved working in the factory."

Once back at school, pupils used the evidence collected during their Beamish experience to have a class debate. Well done all.
